Blocked Toilets Services

Blocked Toilets Services

We all use our toilets and we all want to keep them in top working condition. However, over time a blockage is a real possibility. This is something that needs to be dealt with quickly because a blocked toilet can lead to major damage and cost if left unchecked.

There are some tell-tale signs that you may have a blocked toilet. The most obvious is if your toilet will not flush properly. This means that water will not drain out of the bowl as fast as it usually does and may even start backing up into other rooms in your home or even outside your property. A blocked toilet is an emergency and should be attended to as soon as possible by a licensed plumbing professional.

Another sign of a blocked toilet is if you notice that the water level in your toilet bowl is lower than it normally is. This is caused when the clog in the toilet causes a back-up of waste in the drainpipe. This can then cause the water in your toilet to drop down to a point where it is less than the toilet tank.

It’s also worth noting if you are finding it difficult to use your toilet or that the water level drops significantly lower than usual when you flush. This is because the clog in the toilet has changed the liquid to air ratio and the pressure of the waste in the pipe is now being exerted on other fixtures in your bathroom. This will often cause them to stop functioning which is a clear sign of a clog.

You may also notice that there are puddles in your bathroom or around other fixtures such as your kitchen sink. This is a sign of a blockage in the toilet and your drainpipe and this can then cause water to leak out of other parts of your bathroom and into your yard. A puddle in the yard can also cause your sewer to overflow which is dangerous and should be dealt with as soon as you notice it.

Blocked toilets often result from using too much toilet paper or putting other materials down the drain that do not dissolve such as sanitary items, hand towels, or baby wipes. It’s also important to ensure that you keep the grate on your overflow drain or gully trap free of pot plants, toys and other debris that can prevent it from being activated and sewer discharged into your yard if your toilet is blocked.

There are a few ways to unblock your toilet such as plunging and the use of snaking solutions but in some cases a more thorough job is required. This will involve opening the toilet and drainpipe to remove foreign objects and this can cost between $200-$600 depending on the nature of the blockage and the severity of the repair work needed.
